Ecclesiastes 1 thru 5
60" x 36” Acrylic on Canvas
Multi-coloured writing of the text from Ecclesiastes made meaningless by overlapping. Only the scattered positives are legible in white.
In the book of Ecclesiastes, the writer says, “I, the Teacher, applied my mind to study and to explore by wisdom all that is done under the heavens.” After considering wisdom, folly, toil, pleasure, advancement, riches, oppression, dreaming, politics, ... he concludes that all is fleeting, “meaningless, meaningless”, and a “chasing after the wind”, since only what God does lasts forever. Scattered throughout, he highlights what is lasting, to simply do good, enjoy work, and honour God.
